Leeds United: Glen Kamara delivers ‘crazy’ verdict amid Championship title race

Glen Kamara has delivered his verdict on the Championship title race and the chances of Leeds United claiming promotion to the Premier League.

Having been part of the Rangers squad to lift the Scottish Premiership title at Ibrox in 2020/21, Kamara has experience when it comes to winning trophies, but admitted nothing compares to the Championship.

Speaking to Yorkshire Evening Post on Saturday (16 March), Kamara said: “It’s a tough ask but hopefully we can go up, whether it be number one spot or number two spot. Where would it rank? I couldn’t even tell you right now, I think in the moment I will be able to tell you that!

“I’m enjoying it here. I’ve never played in the Championship before but it’s a crazy league. I’m enjoying it. The Leeds fans have been great, the manager, the team, everyone, I’m enjoying it. It’s been really good.”

Glen Kamara’s displays for Leeds United fly under the radar

With Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Archie Gray all claiming their plaudits at Elland Road, Kamara’s performances have been flying far under the radar.

The 28-year-old has created a formidable partnership with Gruev in the middle of the park, starting 27 of Leeds’ 37 league matches to date and has been a key component in the Whites’ season so far.

Having signed a four-year contract in 2023, the Finnish midfielder will hope to be plying his trade in the Premier League, and will most likely fit the league like a glove after impressing in Scotland and on the international stage.

Before Leeds can begin to think about the top tier of English football, they must fend off Leicester City and Ipswich Town at the top of the Championship table.

And with the Foxes busy with an FA Cup tie against Chelsea onSunday (17 March), Leeds have the perfect chance to topple them from their perch and take the top spot in the division.

With Daniel Farke’s side taking on Millwall, and the Tractor Boys facing Sheffield Wednesday, the Elland Road faithful will be hoping their team can take full advantage and finish the weekend atop the Championship.
