Leeds United given ‘now or never’ verdict on Martin Terrier by Sky Sports pundit
Jesse Marsch is making further moves to try and bolster his Leeds United attack and Stade Rennes sensation Martin Terrier is now on his transfer radar.
L’Equipe reported on 17 July that the Whites were rivalling West Ham United for the 25-year-old’s signature after an incredible season in Ligue 1 where he finished as the division’s third top scorer with 21 goals to his name.
European football writer Tom Williams has watched a lot of the Frenchman and sees similarities between Terrier and Theirry Henry but also made a point that this could be his best chance to get a big move away from Rennes.

“Last season was the best season of his career by some distance,” Williams said on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast. “He had never previously got into double figures in Ligue 1 but last season he scored 21 goals, third only to Kylian Mbappe and Wissam Ben Yedder.
“He’s a very quick, left-sided right-footed attacking player whose trademark is coming in off the left flank and whipping shots in, a-la Thierry Henry.
“Looking at his age and the phenomenal season he had last season, he will probably think that if he is ever going to make a big move to the Premier League, it’s probably going to be now or never.
“If a club are prepared to meet Rennes’ asking price then Terrier would probably back himself because he will likely struggle to match the numbers he put up last season with Rennes.”
Yorkshire Terrier
It’s not very often that we as Leeds United are linked with a player that draws comparisons of such a unique talent like Henry but that can only bode well for us.

With Patrick Bamford naturally left-footed, Terrier may just be the perfect strike partner for the England international by offering that different point of attack and an ability to switch sides if necessary too.
But if he really is Henry-esque when cutting in from the left flank, then Marsch has to get him in and let him do exactly that without too much instruction elsewhere.
His 2021-22 season was a remarkable one but we now need to hope that it wasn’t just a flash in the pan and if he does come to Elland Road, he finds that same groove again to fir us to our goals for the campaign.
Victor Orta had better do his thing and bring together Terrier and Yorkshire in the most appropriate transfer of the summer.
In other Leeds United news, this talkSPORT pundit doesn’t see Marsch’s squad as any worse despite two high-profile exits over the summer.
