Leeds United give green signal for Diego Llorente summer exit – Gianluca Di Marzio

Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has shared an update [23 June] on Leeds United defender Diego Llorente amid interest from Roma.

He claims that the Whites have given the green signal to Roma to sign the Spaniard on a loan with an option to buy.

This comes after the Serie A outfit did not exercise their option to buy, having loaned him out for the final few months of the 2022/23 season.

Bad move

Leeds should be getting a transfer fee rather than allowing him to play for the same team for 16 months in a row without signing him.

Llorente does have a deal until 2026 so that’s perhaps why Leeds are open to him going out on loan again but he’s not likely to improve.

Roma saw what he can offer to them and became a good fit for their system which is why they were desperate to sign him again.

This was the perfect chance for the Whites to make the most of the interest and make a few millions which they could then use in the transfer window.

The Spaniard is unlikely to play again for the Whites and even if he stays on, there are better defenders at the club than him.

It remains to be seen how much loan fee will Leeds be getting and how much is the option to buy him next summer.
