Leeds United give green light for Mateusz Bogusz permanent exit to Los Angeles FC

Leeds United have given the green light for Mateusz Bogusz to end his loan spell at UD Ibiza and join Los Angeles FC on a permanent basis, according to SportoweFakty.

The Polish attacking midfielder has been loaned out to UD Ibiza for the last two seasons, after joining the Yorkshire club in January 2019.

The 21-year-old has now recieved interest from the 2022 MLS Champions, and would be the second Leeds player to move to America this window, after Mateusz Klich joined D.C. United. [90min, January 12]

SportoweFakty shared (Tuesday 31 January) that the Whites had “given the green light” for the deal to take place, but will need permission from UD Ibiza to cut his season-long loan short.

Let him go

Bogusz was a player who Leeds had high hopes for when he first joined the club in 2019, but has struggled to live up to expectations unfortunately.

The Spanish second-tier isn’t the kind of quality that the Whites want their players to be plying their trade in, and clearly shows he isn’t up to the task of first-team football at Elland Road.

There would be little point in keeping him on at UD Ibiza, and they can use the transfer funds to reinvest in some new young talent.

Although they won’t get much money for the Polish player, the club need to rim their squad after investing heavily so far this window. The likes of Georginio Rutter and Weston McKennie didn’t come cheap, and the Whites must look to rebuild their funds by sanctioning some exits.

Leeds have given the youngster his fair share of chances to prove himself while on loan, but it is clearly time to part ways.
