Leeds United: Georginio Rutter wowed by what he saw fans do after 4-1 FA Cup win v Plymouth
Georginio Rutter could not believe the “unbelievable” support he and his teammates had from the Leeds United fans after their 4-1 win over Plymouth on Tuesday (6 February).
The Whites scored three goals in extra time to beat Plymouth Argyle 4-1 in their FA Cup fourth-round replay after goals from Willy Gnonto, Crycensio Summerville, Rutter and a Ryan Hardie own goal.
Daniel Farke’s men set up a fifth-round tie with either Chelsea or Aston Villa, who replay their fourth-round tie on Wednesday (7 February).
Rutter who came on late in the second half could not believe the support from the Whites fans who travelled almost 400 miles for the game.
Speaking to BBC Sport West Yorkshire (6 February), he said: “Amazing. Every time the fans are here for us, it is unbelievable.
“Even when we play away, it’s like we’re playing at home and we hear the noise they make, it is unbelievable so thank you to the fans. We Are Leeds.”
Leeds United support carries them through at Home Park
Huge credit goes to those Leeds United fans who travelled such a huge distance for the game at Home Park and while the Whites may have looked like they had thrown the game away again, it was their support that carried the team through.
It was Groundhog Day again when Brendon Galloway chested the ball in to cancel out Gnonto’s opener when the Whites were in so much control before that.
However, Farke’s substitutions coupled with the support from the away crowd was enough for the Whites to see off their opponents in ruthless fashion.
Rutter continued his unbelievable form for the club and once again, it was his inspiration in the final third along with Summerville that put Plymouth to the sword.

If the Whites are to fulfil their Premier League ambitions at the end of the campaign, those two must be kept fit between now and May in what will be a gruelling period for Farke’s men.
