Leeds United: Georginio Rutter gesture at Elland Road leaves Sky Sports man in state of stress
Georginio Rutter made sure to thank Leeds United fans for all their backing after the win over Millwall, despite the best efforts of Sky Sports.
The France Under-21s international more than played his part in Sunday’s (17 March) 2-0 win as he assisted both goals at Elland Road.
Rutter was picked by Sky as one of the players they wanted to interview immediately after full-time, but he clearly had other ideas.
In a video shared by Leeds Match Worn on X [18 March], Rutter is seen gesturing to a stressed Sky employee to calm down as he serenaded fans.
The account tweeted: “Still laughing at how stressed the Sky Sports guy was on Sunday as he desperately tried to get Georgi ready for post match interviews… while he clearly had other priorities.”
Georginio Rutter a Leeds United fan favourite
Sky have an annoying habit of wanting to interrupt player celebrations at full-time, so good on Rutter for telling them to wait.
The broadcaster pumps a lot of money into the league, but quite why they cannot wait until the players are finished is strange.
An even bigger annoyance is when they grab a player at full-time in a cup final, preventing them from celebrating with their own supporters.
Rutter was not going to be rushed by anyone, though, and the Leeds fans who were still in the stands appreciated that.
The Frenchman is a huge fan favourite and continued his good form with two more assists in the win over Millwall, even if not everything he did pleased Daniel Farke.
Having undergone minor surgery this week, supporters now have their fingers crossed he will be back in time for the trip to Watford.
If he is to play and make an impact in that game at Vicarage Road, Sky may want to select another player to interview post-match.
