Leeds United full-back Cody Drameh wanted by Newcastle United as backup to Kieran Trippier
Newcastle United want to sign Cody Drameh as Magpies eye the Leeds United youngster as a backup for Kieran Trippier, according to 90min.
The Daily Mail reported (11 November) that Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund were tracking the 20-year-old, with his contract situation at Elland Road still up in the air.
Yorkshire Evening Post [28 November] suggest the board have now taken their contract offer off the table, with a January exit now looking likely.

It’s since been suggested (90min, 8 December) that Newcastle are keen on adding to 20-year-old to provide competition for Trippier.
Inevitable
It does seem inevitable that Drameh will leave Elland Road in the January window, with the right back failing to see much game time under Jesse Marsch. He’s at a time where he needs to be playing football and sadly for Drameh, Rasmus Kristensen was always going to be the American’s first choice.
From Drameh’s perspective, it’s easy to see why he wants to depart Elland Road. He’s at a stage of his development where he will want to see the prospect of first-team minutes. Trippier is an exceptional talent, but he’s entering the latter stages of his career and at 32, there’s a good chance Newcastle will need a new right back in the coming seasons.

For Leeds, it’s good the club haven’t offered Drameh over the odds to get him to stay in West Yorkshire. Kristensen will be their go-to right back for a number of years, and it would now make sense for Marsch to keep Luke Ayling as backup or bring in another youthful alternative.
In other Leeds United news, Victor Orta will be thrilled as a £40million-plus he wants to sign has made history at the World Cup.
