Leeds United: Fresh Georginio Rutter injury scare spotted for Daniel Farke in win v Swansea

Leeds United forward Georginio Rutter appeared to be in some discomfort as headed down the tunnel at half-time of the Whites’ win over Swansea City, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on Wednesday (14 February) that the French forward was in pain following the opening 45 minutes and he made an effort to voice his concerns to performance coach Chris Domgalla.

Rutter was able to come back out for the second half but was also unhappy to be substituted by Daniel Farke, with the German stopping the 21-year-old in his technical area before he took his place on the bench in the Whites’ dugout.

Fresh Georginio Rutter concern emerges for Leeds United

This latest potential injury blow for Rutter comes only a matter of days after the Leeds United striker appeared to be in some discomfort during the Whites’ warmup ahead of their win over Rotherham United at Elland Road on Saturday (10 February).

As he did against Swansea, the 21-year-old managed to overcome whatever issue he was experiencing on that occasion to feature but Leeds supporters may be slightly concerned to see Rutter repeatedly in pain, especially at such a crucial point of the season.

Junior Firpo thought he’d opened the scoring for Leeds United, but Georginio Rutter’s offside call saw the goal ruled out.

While most have assumed that Farke opted to take the striker off because Leeds were cruising in South Wales, this latest update may be cause for concern and could suggest that the German was instead managing Rutter’s minutes to avoid any further damage.

With Patrick Bamford already sidelined, the Whites cannot afford to lose too many more attacking options to the treatment table, especially as they look to continue their push for the automatic promotion places.

Hopefully, this latest Rutter worry can be brushed aside and the forward will be fit and available to face Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (17 February).
