Leeds United: France make official announcement as Georginio Rutter twist emerges
The France Football Federation have announced that Leeds United star Georginio Rutter has pulled out of the Under-23 squad ahead of clashes against Ivory Coast and the U.S.A.
The announcement was made via their official website on 18 March, coming one day after Rutter picked up two assists in the 2-0 win against Millwall at Elland Road.
Rutter was joined by Montpellier midfielder Joris Chotard in dropping out of the squad, and Thierry Henry has opted to replace him with Lyon winger Rayan Cherki.

The reason for Rutter’s removal from the squad remains unexplained, although it doesn’t seem to be injury-related given the fact he played 90 minutes on 17 March before he was substituted off
In terms of injuries picked up in the clash against Millwall, Daniel Farke reassured fans that both Crysensio Summerville and Archie Gray were not seriously hurt despite picking up knocks which saw the former limp off at Elland Road.
The Frenchman’s form for Leeds this season has earned him very high praise indeed, including comparisons to French legend Zinedine Zidane, as he continues to show off his talent by helping Leeds to top the Championship.

Rutter may simply be resting off the back of a packed fixture schedule for his club, as it is not unheard of for clubs or players to drop out of international duty in favour of an extended break from playing – particularly at youth level.
In other Leeds United news, the club will entertain offers for Max Wober this summer.
