Alan Shearer feels Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford's frustrations in clash v Leicester

Amazon commentator Alan Shearer felt Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford’s frustrations in the first half against Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Leeds United went 2-0 down early on against Leicester with an early ball over the top causing all sorts of problems for the Whites before a second late on.

A Robin Koch interception led the ball into the back of his own net for the Foxes first before Barnes grabbed the second of the night, leaving Leeds with a need for a goal from Bamford.

Speaking on Amazon Prime’s live broadcast (20 September 20.43) Shearer was disappointed in Bamford’s battle with Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans.

“Frustrating time at the minute for him (Bamford),” said the Amazon commentator.

“Getting pushed off the ball by Tielemans there and giving that free kick away.”

Needed.

Leeds United and Jesse Marsch need their striker to step up and start scoring goals, his baron goal drought can’t go on for much longer without questions being raised.

Bamford was absolutely fantastic against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon and there’s no denying his work rate and grit but his lack of goals is worrying.

Even more so as Leeds looks like they may drop points again after Thursday’s first-half performance, the Whites need some goals and fast.

Is Bamford the man to provide this? Thursday evening’s showing against Leicester says otherwise, he just doesn’t look like scoring anytime soon.

Leeds United looked way off the pace, despite some promising play they really need to up their ante and get things back on track.

Two points from their last seven games aren’t cutting it for the Whites, something needs to change sooner rather than later.

In other Leeds United news, a Sky Sports pundit has delivered Jesse Marsch’s “sack” verdict after what he heard this month.
