Leeds United footage emerges of moment Stuart Dallas told teammates he was retiring

Leeds United have released footage of the moment Stuart Dallas told the playing staff that he was retiring from professional football.

The Elland Road legend was forced to retire from the sport on Wednesday (10 April) after suffering a fractured femur two years ago during a Premier League clash with Manchester City.

There was an outpouring of support from ex-Leeds stars such as Luke Ayling and Mateusz Klich after his announcement, and now footage has emerged of the moment he told the squad of his decision with captain and best friend Liam Cooper by his side.

Stuart Dallas is a Leeds United legend

There is nobody in the current Whites squad who is more deserving of the legends tag at Elland Road than Stuart Dallas.

The Northern Ireland international has spent nine years at the club but has failed to make an appearance in the last two years due to this injury, but there was always hope that he would return at some point to be able to contribute.

Daniel Farke has been really smart to keep him around the changing room and the club travelling on match days to have his leadership and character, and also to help Dallas himself mentally through his recovery.

Now the club are holding talks with him about giving him a role behind the scenes going into the future, which can only be a good thing.

The fans will thankfully get to say their goodbyes at Elland Road on Saturday at half-time of the game against Blackburn, and Dallas will no doubt feel the love he deserves.
