Leeds United flop Junior Firpo named in worst Premier League XI of the season by BT commentator
BT Sport commentator Ian Darke has included Leeds United left-back Junior Firpo in his worst Premier League team of the season.
The left-back had endured a poor run of form during the Whites’ survival battle despite costing the club £12.8million last year [Sky Sports].
The former Barcelona man’s performance has not gone unnoticed with Darke selected the 25-year-old in his worst Premier League team of the season, as shown by ESPN UK’s Twitter account on 25 May.
Firpo joins the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire in Darke’s eleven.
Doesn’t make sense
Firpo is completely deserving of a spot in this side, but the rest of Darke’s worst team really doesn’t make sense.
The Leeds left-back is the only player from a bottom half club to make the Darke’s side, with not one relegated player making the XI.
This XI should be called an underperforming eleven as opposed to the worst eleven.

Using Darke’s reasoning, Lukaku has had a worse season than Norwich’s Josh Sargent.
Lukaku has eleven goals more than the American international this season.
Regarding Firpo, it wouldn’t be a surprise for the 25-year-old to be moved out the door at Elland Road this summer.
He has proven himself to be rash, unreliable and lacking the technical ability to play Premier League football.
If Marsch is looking to implement a solid defensive structure at Elland Road then players like Firpo are not the kind you want to entrust.
The left-back is contracted to Leeds United for a further three years, meaning the Whites could command a decent fee for the 25-year-old, if Marsch does decide to move him on.
In other Leeds United news, Leeds are keen to tick off another piece of business in the coming weeks to follow Brenden Aaronson’s imminent arrival.
