Leeds United fixture shifted as Sky Sports make new announcement

Leeds United supporters have grown accustomed to fixtures being shifted – often at fairly late notice – since returning to the Championship.

Given the size of the fanbase, plus the fact that pretty much every game has something riding on it, it is not surprising Leeds are often the top pick of TV executives.

Sky Sports made a vow last summer to announce all televised games between the start of the season and January in advance.

However, now that we are into the business end of proceedings, the broadcaster has the right to choose fixtures on a weekly basis, albeit a month in advance of them being staged.

Leeds v Preston North End selected for Sky coverage

As confirmed via the EFL’s website on Thursday (13 March), the home match with Preston North End on 12 April will now kick off at the earlier time of 12:30.

The game will be scheduled on Sky Sports+, with Plymouth Argyle against Sheffield United – likely to be crucial at both ends of the division – kicking off at the same time.

A month’s warning is fair enough in most instances, although some Leeds supporters further afield may now have to make new plans.

With three more games to play between the Preston one and the end-of-season clash with Plymouth, which is already locked in for 12:30 on 3 May, do not be surprised if more are shifted.

Leeds’ remaining Championship fixtures

As well as facing Preston and Plymouth, Daniel Farke’s men will also take on QPR, Swansea City, Luton Town, Oxford United, Stoke City and Bristol City.

Leeds’ 2-0 win over Millwall at Elland Road on Wednesday (12 March) really was massive, with Sheffield United and Burnley dropping points in their midweek matches.

Farke will preach the importance of taking it one game at a time which, while being one of the oldest clichés in the book, does make total sense.

A trip to QPR is next up for Leeds, with that proving to be a bit of a banana skin in recent times.

Three points will again be a must from that one if Leeds are to keep themselves top of the pile heading into that final stretch.
