Leeds United ‘feel used’ in pursuit of Valentin Castellanos
Leeds United are keen to sign New York City striker Valentin Castellanos, according to La Pagina Millionaria, in the summer but things are getting complicated for the Whites.
According to Claudio Mauri (La Nacion journalist), The Premier League side may have been used by agents within the deal to bump up the price for another interested club.
Mauri also points out that the 23-year-old wouldn’t successfully secure a work permit to play in the UK at this stage which could, in turn, end any Leeds hopes of signing the Argentinian.
“Castellanos fell to River for economic reasons,” Mauri said from his personal Twitter account. “In the middle, a supposed interest arose from Leeds United, who denies it and feels used by the agents to inflate the price of the striker, who also does not have the points to be admitted to the UK.”
Not very smart
IF he really wouldn’t get a work permit this summer, having not played internationally for Argentina so far, then Leeds United are wasting their time on him anyway.
What good is going to come from signing a player who can’t play for you immediately and might never get the necessary points to successfully apply for a work permit?

He might be a very good striker and 23 goals in 36 games last season suggests he is, albeit in the MLS, but he isn’t going to score anything at Elland Road if he can’t get into the country.
Striker is where the Whites need to improve most behind Patrick Bamford but there are much less complicated options out there for them to take a swing at.
They don’t even need to buy anyone of Marcelo Bielsa trusts Joe Gelhardt to live up to the potential he’s shown and become a real Premier League goalscorer.
