Leeds United fee update emerges after transfer bid to Rangers for Glen Kamara, personal terms agreed

Leeds United and Rangers still haven’t agreed a fee for Glen Kamara despite a bid being made for the midfielder, according to the Daily Mail.

Simon Jones reported on the paper’s website Monday (28 August) that the offer has gone in but the two sides haven’t yet settled on a price for the Finnish international, 27.

Kamara is surplus to requirements at Ibrox and has been linked to a move to Elland Road all summer, with personal terms thought to have been agreed some time ago [Fabrizio Romano, 27 August].

Daniel Farke is in need of more midfield reinforcements before the deadline and has bids in for Kamara, Bayer Leverkusen’s Nadiem Amiri and Fortuna Dusseldorf’s Ao Tanaka, but the Ibrox man is said to be his top choice.

A fee of £5.5million has been quoted in Scottish reports this summer but it appears the two sides may not have yet landed on a number.

Clock ticking

It has been on the cards for so long that it would be typical if Kamara now didn’t end up a Leeds United player in the next few days.

With just three central midfielders in the senior squad currently, two of whom are teenagers from last-season’s under-21s and the third the 22-year-old new signing Ethan Ampadu, there is clearly room for at least one more signing.

Kamara would logically be the first, with one or more of the aforementioned names potentially following, but with the expectation that a deal between the Whites and their Glasgow counterparts would be done any time for the past few weeks they both now cutting it fine.

Daniel Farke

There has also been interest in Lewis O’Brien on loan and his Nottingham Forest teammate Jonjo Shelvey, so it would appear that Farke is gearing up to land multiple new options.

Ampadu and 17-year-old Archie Gray have done an admirable job so far, but after losing the entire set of options from the Premier League squad over the summer Leeds United are very thin at the moment.

So if Kamara is the manager’s priority then they would be better off getting an agreement reached fast since all bets are off in the final days of the window and there has been mooted interest from multiple countries abroad.

In other Leeds United news, the club are now in talks with a Premier League side about a late deal to bring in another new defender.
