Leeds United fans will hate what Roy Keane’s just said, even Ian Wright’s shocked – ‘Wow’

Roy Keane was extremely critical of Leeds United ahead of Sunday’s clash with Aston Villa in the Premier League as he tipped the Whites for relegation.

Leeds lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest before the international break, with Daniel Farke‘s team winning just one of their last six Premier League games.

And with high-flying Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool approaching, the Whites may well find themselves in a perilous position come Christmas.

Farke is under huge pressure at Leeds, with decision-makers at Elland Road keen to avoid sleepwalking towards relegation.

Leeds could sack Farke before the January transfer window, with any new manager expected to be keen to bolster the squad in the market.

Roy Keane delivers damning Leeds United verdict

Many would have expected a difficult start to the season for Leeds – the Premier League has only gotten tougher and tougher in the years following the Whites’ relegation.

But after a busy summer that saw 10 new players arrive at Elland Road, there was hope that Farke’s side could make an instant impact.

In many ways, Leeds have looked competitive, often falling on the wrong side of closely-contested games.

But there have been games, such as the losses to Brighton and Nottingham Forest, in which the Whites have failed to compete at all.

Keane made his feelings clear on The Overlap podcast on Thursday. “Leeds are going down, yeah,” he said, to which Ian Wright responded: “Wow.”

“They were dreadful against Forest,” Keane continued.

Gary Neville was in agreement, and said: “I said Leeds were going down after watching them on the first game of the season, even though they beat Everton.

“I thought ‘that’s not right that’. Everton were shocking that night but I just thought Leeds were (shakes head).”

When could Daniel Farke be sacked?

Leeds may well be without a manager within the next three weeks. On current form, it is difficult to see the Whites getting anything from games against Villa and Manchester City.

Chelsea and Liverpool, too, while suffering dips in form this season, represent dangerous opposition with the tools to put Leeds to the sword.

The one saving grace for Farke, is that three of the four games will be played at Elland Road.

The Leeds home atmosphere is revered for its intensity, and the German will need every single bit of it if his team are to get themselves out of a sizable-looking ditch.
