Leeds United fans to be furious with Mateo Joseph after his latest comments

Mateo Joseph tarnished his reputation at Leeds United this summer with the way he forced his way out of Elland Road.

Joseph joined RCD Mallorca on loan last month, but it was the way he went about this move that upset the Elland Road faithful.

Joseph told Daniel Farke that he wanted to leave before refusing to attend the Whites’ pre-season training camp in Germany, as the 21-year-old sought more regular playing time.

Understandably, this didn’t go down too well in West Yorkshire, and the striker’s latest comments will only upset the fanbase even more.

Mateo Joseph claims Leeds is “not the most beautiful place” to live

Joseph, 21, started 11 games for United last season in the Championship and made 39 appearances in total.

He would have played far fewer minutes than this in the Premier League, especially with Dominic Calvert-Lewin tipped to be Leeds’ first-choice striker.

The youngster had an impressive pre-season last summer and started the campaign as Farke’s first-choice striker.

However, Joel Piroe was eventually able to displace Joseph from the first team, as the Spaniard failed to make the most of the opportunity provided.

In a recent interview with Diario de Mallorca on 8 September, Joseph had this to say about his time living in Leeds.

“There aren’t so many things to do, but I was clear that it was the place I had to be at that moment. It’s not the most beautiful place, but it’s cozy.

“I lived close to the training ground and used that time to stay focused on what I had to do,” Joseph said.

How has Mateo Joseph performed at Mallorca so far?

Since his move to the La Liga outfit, Joseph has started two of their first three matches, with the most recent of these coming against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

The young forward has yet to find the net for his new club in the 200 minutes he has played for them so far.

Mallorca currently sit 18th in the table, with just one point from their opening three games, albeit two of those three were against Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Regardless of how Leeds supporters feel about Joseph now, it is in their best interests that he does well in Spain, as that will only increase his sell-on value when he returns to United next summer.
