Leeds United fans sent warm message by James Milner after 6-0 loss v Liverpool
Leeds United were utterly humiliated by Liverpool yesterday as Marcelo Bielsa’s side were comprehensively beaten 6-0 at Anfield.
A brace apiece for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane dealt the damage with central defenders Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk piling on the misery for the Whites.
Maybe the only positive from an otherwise awful night was the reception Liverpool midfielder James Milner got from the travelling fans who were duly repaid the compliment by the former Whites youngster.
He not only clapped those who stayed after the game in the ground but also thanked the Leeds supporters on Instagram for his reception.
“Thanks to the Leeds supporters for the warm reception. Never take anything like that for granted,” Milner wrote.
No need for bad blood
Milner and Leeds have proved to the football world that a player can leave a club for better things and still be revered at his former home.
Far too often these days, players are immediately hated for leaving one club for another if they are a first-team regular and it isn’t healthy.

If they have left in sour circumstances, by all means don’t like the bloke but it’s been so long since the 36-year-old left Elland Road that fans have forgotten any grudges they had.
Especially given the highly successful career he has enjoyed, winning the Premier League with both Manchester City and Liverpool.
He may have only played 13 minutes on Wednesday night having replaced Curtis Jones but he still remains a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Whites supporters showed how classy they can be and certainly went some way to repairing the damage done by the very small minority after the trouble that occurred against Manchester United on Sunday.
In other Leeds United news, we think this brainless Whites player needs to be dropped among the three things we learned from last night’s disaster.
