Leeds United fans go nuts as new footage shared from Sheffield United match

Leeds United fans have been witnessed going “nuts” at Elland Road after opening the scoring versus Sheffield United, in footage shared by Justin Allen.

The Sun reporter posted on X [19 October] a video from the stands of the wild celebrations after Pascal Struijk opened the scoring in a huge win against Sheffield United on Friday night [18 October].

After what was momentarily considered a poor corner delivery from Joe Rothwell on the left-hand side during the second half against the Blades, Struijk beat his markers with ease to meet the cross and fire a clinical finish into the top corner.

The stand-in captain’s goal was the first Leeds have managed from a corner in over 50 attempts in home games alone this season.

Allen’s social media post read: “That feeling when you finally score from a corner. Leeds and Elland Road go nuts after Pascal Struijk nets v Sheffield United. Great performance last night from Daniel Farke’s side.”

It will certainly come as a relief to Farke and his backroom team that Leeds have proven a way to score from set-plays.

The Whites demonstrated themselves to be innovative following the initial doubt over the delivery from Rothwell, but it emerged as a routine from the Thorp Arch playbook as Struijk – immense all evening – bamboozled the Sheffield United penalty area to arrive and finish.

Former EFL defender Curtis Davies admitted live on Sky Sports [18 October] after the final whistle that he thought it was “just a bad corner” from the midfielder, but acknowledged the excellent piece of play to break the deadlock.

Farke knows for his charges to earn promotion at the second time of asking, they have to find a way to score all manner of goals – which is why Struijk’s will particularly please him.

And it could prove very useful this Tuesday [22 October] when Leeds are straight back in Elland Road action, against a Watford side who despite sitting inside the top six, have conceded more goals (14) than the rest of the top-half so far.
