Leeds United fan fury detailed as Elland Road turns ugly after Premier League relegation
An angry reaction from the Leeds United supporters in the Elland Road stands was evident after Tottenham Hotspur’s second goal on Sunday, as reported by Martin Hytner of the Guardian.
Whilst few would have expected the Whites to pull off a great escape on the final day of the Premier League season, the least the fans wanted to see was some fight but instead, they were left with repeated failings.
An “ugly” atmosphere was described by the journalist as the Whites went down in the same way as their season faded out in recent months, with a slow inevitable demise.

Hytner detailed the sheer anger that poured out from the stands, as the team conceded in the early stages of the second half, just as they did shortly after kick-off.
“It was the moment when it really turned ugly, the fury and frustration that the Leeds support felt rushing to the surface and spilling everywhere,” he said.
“Pedro Porro had scored at the start of the second half to put Tottenham 2-0 up and, from all corners of Elland Road, came the cry, ‘You’re not fit to wear the shirt’.”

End of the road
It is no surprise to hear of the reaction from the fans, after a dismal start to the second half.
It was bad enough to concede in the second minute to deflate any remaining hope of at least getting a win, but to repeat the feat after the half-time break was ridiculous.
That was it for the fans, as well as this current squad and the season overall, it was the end of the road and the players received the backlash.
Now, the fans will look for answers at Elland Road with plenty to be decided before they can pick up the pieces for next season.
Right now, they don’t know who will be leading the club on or off the pitch, with plenty waiting to be resolved. It is no wonder that the emotion spilled over, on another day of ignominy in a very underwhelming season to forget.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign one 13-goal forward this summer after an impressive European season.
