Leeds United fan defends Marcelo Bielsa live on talkSPORT
A Leeds United fan called Ian has defended Marcelo Bielsa on talkSPORT after the Whites lost 4-1 to Arsenal.
After the game [18 December], Ian phoned in to speak to Gabby Agbonlahor about the Argentine, and he passionately defended Bielsa.
He also believes that given the injury situation, the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola would struggle.
He said: “He’s tipped to be a genius [and] I think he is because of how he’s changed Leeds as a team.
“The problem is he only knows one major tactic, and that is go forward [and] bomb forward.
“I don’t think any manager in the world could [survive this] with the [number] of injuries that we have.”
Agbonlahor then interrupted and said: “I understand the injuries, but you’ve still got a half-decent side out there; you’ve still got Ayling, Koch, Dallas, Klich, Harrison, Roberts.
“You’ve still got good players there.”
Ian then responded: “A lot of them are not playing in their correct positions.
“Injuries are a factor in football, Bielsa likes a small squad, but I think sticking with him is the best option.
“You could bring in Pep, you could bring in Klopp, but they won’t be able to do as much or better.”
Balanced but passionate defence of Bielsa.
Ian defends his manager here while also admitting the Argentine’s flaws.
However, it is very clear that he believes Bielsa is the man to save the Whites, and we would agree.
The Argentine has transformed Leeds in his time at the club, but so far this season, he hasn’t been able to use the likes of Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips for a consistent run of games.
So, injuries are killing Leeds, and they have to find a way to battle their way through this tough patch.
The fixture list has hardly helped them either, so that has to be considered as well.
Hopefully, the board back Bielsa in January, and the Whites manage to get through the rest of the festive period without any more injuries.
They can then build from there and push on up the league, so we totally agree with Ian on this one.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites could have another injury problem after Jim Beglin noticed something.
