Leeds United fail to give up Brendan Rodgers chase despite Celtic breakthrough with Elland Road attempt launched

Leeds United are reportedly set to battle Celtic until the death in order to hire former Liverpool and Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers.

According to the Daily Record [13 June], the San Francisco 49ers are set to throw the “kitchen sink” in to hire the former FA Cup winner.

This comes despite Celtic making major inroads towards hiring him and have even held advanced talks over a reunion.

Try their best

It’s important that the new owners do not give up the chase to hire Rodgers as he’s by far among the best options linked with Leeds this summer.

The other noteworthy candidate is Graham Potter but it remains to be seen if he would want a Championship job after being the Chelsea manager a few months ago.

Rodgers has an impeccable CV and a proven track record of playing good football and getting his teams to punch above their weight.

The Northern Irishman has won as many as four Manager of the Season awards and over twice as many Manager of the Month awards including three in the Premier League itself.

He’s a good communicator and not a disruptive figure behind the scenes so the 49ers shouldn’t have any issues working with him.

Getting him to join Leeds ahead of Celtic is going to be a task but it’s now their job to prove they are serious owners capable of getting this side back to the top flight.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
