Leeds United face Sonny Perkins injury scare in Spain with Jesse Marsch making left-field call

Sonny Perkins reportedly failed to run off a knock and was taken off during the Leeds United friendly which they ended up winning against Elche.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post [9 December], Jesse Marsch decided to play the game with ten men and did not want to replace Perkins.

The 20-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for Leeds but has been hit with a fresh injury.

Injuries galore

Leeds just cannot catch a break as each time they step on the field someone or the other gets injured.

Perkins surely would’ve wanted some minutes more to prove why he deserves to start but he could not last the entire game.

He was signed this summer after his contract at West Ham expired and it was a highly disputed deal with the Hammers accusing his agent of using them.

Regardless, he’s shined for the Under-21s and the England youth sides and he clearly will want to make the step up and play regularly for the seniors.

However, he now may have to wait a bit longer as the Leeds medical staff are unlikely to rush him back into action so quickly.

He’s already made his European debut for West Ham and will be eager to show his worth sooner rather than later to Marsch.

In other Leeds United, 36 scouts recently showed up to watch multiple Leeds sensations with as many as four exits on the cards in the January transfer window.
