Leeds United face major blow in Augustin verdict, could face transfer ban - report

Leeds United have been dealt a double blow as the Jean-Kévin Augustin saga continues according to Bild.

The Whites are said to have ‘almost no chance’ of overturning FIFA’s ruling that Leeds are to pay £18million to RB Leipzig despite the permanent move not going through after promotion.

The case is being investigated by the Courts of Arbitration for Sport with a verdict said to be heard on March 15, 2022.

If they delay any payment 45 days after being told to pay (if the case), Leeds could even face a transfer ban from FIFA.

Joke

Finally, this saga can draw to a close. It’s an absolute joke that the decision doesn’t look to be overturned by the authorities.

The Frenchman made virtually no impact during his time at Elland Road and had already departed the club upon the Whites’ promotion to the Premier League.

As tough as it is to accept, the decision has been made and Leeds must fork over the cash or risk being placed on a transfer ban from FIFA.

This could be a lesson learnt from Leeds United in terms of their handling of contracts and loan deals as the last thing the club wants to do is throw almost £20million down the drain that could be used to strengthen the squad.

The verdict hasn’t been made yet so there is still some chance of a development swinging in the Whites’ favour but the sooner this fiasco can be put to rest, the better.

Hopefully Augustin can put this all behind him as well and focus on his football.
