Leeds United face further relegation fight setback in crushing new Dan James injury update
Daniel James suffered a hamstring injury against Manchester City, which Daniel Farke has now revealed could leave him out for the long term.
Leeds were beaten 3-2 by Man City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, but the performance has instilled some belief in Farke.
The German head coach is under serious pressure after a string of poor results, as Leeds now face the potential of Premier League relegation.
James is a key player for the Whites, and Farke won’t have been pleased to find the severity regarding the Welshman’s injury setback.
Daniel Farke expects Dan James to be ‘out for a while’
James started against Pep Guardiola’s side, but was hooked at half-time after his suspected injury problem.
The Welshman suffered a hamstring injury back in April when Leeds played Middlesbrough, which forced the winger to sit out the Whites’ penultimate Championship games.
- James missed four of Leeds’ last five Championship games due to a hamstring injury last season
- He has only started four of Leeds’ 13 Premier League fixtures this term
- It’s not known if this hamstring injury is a recurrence of the previous one
After the loss to City, Farke detailed what he knew at the time about James’ issue.
Farke said, as quoted by Leeds Live: “Daniel James reported some hamstring injuries at half-time. It could be that he has done his hamstring.
“We have to wait for further assessments. I hope it’s not too bad, but straight after the game, it didn’t look too good, so it could be that he’s out for a while.”

This may not even be the worst news for Leeds fans, as James’ absence means Farke will have to rely on someone else.

Brenden Aaronson now has more importance for Leeds
Brenden Aaronson has been slammed for his performances this campaign, with many of the Peacock Army suggesting that he is not up to Premier League standards.
There have been calls for Aaronson to be dropped for Leeds, even in the absence of James at times, but Farke has persisted with the American.
Farke is heading into a bunch of matches that could determine his future at LS11, and he may only have himself to blame if he turns to Aaronson as the solution.
Leeds fans just have to sit back and hope for a miracle with James, as the Whites sorely miss his presence.
