Leeds United: FA could face ‘huge problem’ ahead of Chelsea showdown at Stamford Bridge

Leeds United are one of several Championship clubs that could hand the FA a “huge problem” if they progress to the final of the FA Cup this season, according to talkSPORT.

The sports news outlet reported on 28 February that the Championship play-off final is scheduled to take place the day after the Cup final, which would be a problem should a club reach both events.

With Leicester City and Coventry City already progressing to the quarter-final, both Leeds and Southampton could join them with wins against Chelsea and Liverpool respectively.

The FA will need to find a solution for such a glaring issue, with one of the fixtures needing to be moved in the event one team qualifies for both finals, with the playoffs looking the more likely to move.

Any of Leeds, Coventry, Leicester and Southampton could end up in the playoffs come the end of the season, and progression to the quarter-final of the FA Cup would put them in a good position to make the final.

A win against Chelsea tonight would set them up well, with confidence flying at Elland Road, while pressure builds on the Blues, and there is no reason the club could not make it all the way to the final of the FA Cup.

Hopefully, the Championship issue can be solved early with automatic promotion.
