Leeds United expected to make Michael Skubala announcement this week

Leeds United are reportedly likely to announce Michael Skubala as their new Under-21s manager by this week.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites have been talks over appointing someone in that role after Mark Jackson was promoted to the first team.

It’s understood that Skubala has been the favourite and his announcement could be made before the Premier League 2 season kicks off next week.

Thorough process

It is believed that the club hierarchy followed a lengthy process before arriving at the decision to hire Skubala.

He’s a former Futsal coach and currently works with the FA as a consultant for the senior team and has been billed as highly-rated by the Daily Mail.

These two roles will certainly hold him in good stead for the junior team position and he will ensure that the youngsters play the Leeds brand of football.

He’s not only in charge of working with the first-team players for England, but those of all age groups so he does know what it is to work with teenagers looking to take their first steps into the professional game.

He has also worked with UEFA and in number of other positions in the game so Leeds are certainly hiring someone who is a jack of all trades.

Victor Orta and co have got it right with these behind-the-scenes appointments in the past and we’re expecting Skubala also to hit the ground running and take the Under-21s to the next level.
