Leeds United expected to drop interest in Noni Madueke after striking Georginio Rutter deal
Leeds United are expected to drop interest in PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke after they have reached an agreement to sign Georginio Rutter, as reported by 90min.
A host of Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Everton, Leicester, Newcastle and West Ham have been following his development. The Whites have also tracked him, but they are not expected to pursue the move any further.
The 20-year-old England youth international has been superb for the Dutch club since joining in 2018 and the club value him at around the £35.4m mark.
Madueke is a talented youngster and he has no shortage of admirers.
A product of the Crystal Palace and Tottenham academics, the 20-year-old winger has been outstanding for the Dutch club. He has racked up 20 goals and 14 assists in 79 games, and several clubs could offer him a route back to England.
Leeds have been very active in the market, and they have nearly secured two fantastic players already. Max Wober has joined from Red Bull Salzburg while Rutter is set to join from Hoffenheim.
The Whites now have plenty of options in their forward department following the capture of Rutter. At the moment, stockpiling on this front makes little sense when priorities lie elsewhere.
The club can use the money to add depth in midfield, and probably that’s why they are reportedly keen to sign Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi.
Fabrizio Romano reported (14 January) on Twitter that the Whites have held initial talks to sign the Angers midfielder who is also wanted by Napoli among other clubs.
In other Leeds United news, Jesse Marsch approached the travelling fans at full-time against Aston Villa and got a notable reaction.
