Leeds United evaluating possibility of signing Borussia Dortmund full-back Raphael Guerreiro

Leeds United are looking at the possibility of signing Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro this summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Whites are in the market to sign players to bolster the squad for the 2022-23 campaign and have already made as many as five first-team signings.

One of the areas where they are still looking to add more bodies is the left-back where there is clearly overreliance on Junior Firpo.

Jones, while talking to Givemesport, revealed that Leeds are looking at the possibility of signing the Portugal international.

“Raphael Guerreiro’s a name I’ve heard mentioned,” he said. “There are a few that they’re looking at. It might be that they end up doing a loan or something from one of Europe’s bigger clubs once they know that there are people that don’t fit into the plans elsewhere.”

Leeds are going through a more than decent transfer window where despite losing two key players in Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha to Manchester City and Barcelona, they still have a decent enough squad to push for another season in the Premier League.

Signing someone like Guerreiro will be another step in that direction as he is undoubtedly going to be a world-class signing for the side that managed to escape relegation last season.

Manager Jesse Marsch must do all in his power to ensure that he gets his man, sooner than later, as his arrival will definitely ensure Leeds’ survival in England’s top-flight football.

The 28-year-old has been a Dortmund player since the summer of 2016 when he moved from French club FC Lorient in a deal worth £10.8 million.

Since then, he has represented his current club in 191 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score 34 goals and provided 37 assists in the process [Transfermarkt].
