Leeds United end surely nears for Mateusz Klich as club eye Torino ace Sasa Lukic

Mateusz Klich is facing an uncertain future at Leeds United with a January exit on the cards – and that could be accelerated if the club pursue a move for another midfielder.

Klich has been a bit-part player for Leeds in the 2022/23 season and could well be looking to leave the club in January. At 32, he’s at a stage in his career where he will want to be playing as much football as he can, not warming the substitutes bench.

According to TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey, Klich is “hurt” after missing out on the Poland World Cup squad and an exit in January is now “likely”.

It appears there’s certainly some substance to what Bailey has suggested, with it being revealed Leeds are now front of the queue to sign Torino midfielder Sasa Lukic (Forza Roma, 23 November).

The combative 26-year-old featured for Serbia in their World Cup opener against favourites Brazil on Thursday evening (24 November), and he would certainly be an astute signing by Leeds, should they get a deal over the line.

Lukic’s contract is up in 2024, and he has yet to agree on new terms with the Seria A club with it being “highly probable” he leaves in the January window TorinoGranata (22 November).

It’s clear Jesse Marsch is eager to add another midfielder to his ranks and if Lukic does come to Elland Road, it would seem Klich probably doesn’t have a long-term future at Elland Road.

He’s been immense for Leeds over a number of years, but unfortunately, a new era is beginning to emerge in Yorkshire and the likes of Klich and Luke Ayling could well be moved on in the coming windows.

In other Leeds United news, we can exclusively reveal that a takeover by the 49ers could be done within weeks.
