Leeds United: Eintracht Frankfurt ‘desperate’ to announce Robin Koch signing

Eintracht Frankfurt “would like” to announce the signing of Leeds United defender Robin Koch, according to German news outlet, Allgemeine-Zeitung.

However, at present negotiations with the Bundesliga side are “proving tough” at present, with the 26-year-old set to depart Elland Road this summer (Allgemeine-Zeitung, 28 June).

90min reported on 27 June that the German’s exit from Elland Road could be finalised “imminently”. Frankfurt are reportedly interested.

Frankfurt are believed to be “desperate” to land Koch and that he is eager to make the move to central Germany.

Inevitable

This is a move that looks like it’s gathering momentum.

Koch can probably leave Elland Road with his head held relatively high. He was by no means a standout performer – but has shown glimpses of being able to operate for a top-half Premier League side.

It does make sense for Leeds to move the 26-year-old on. His wages will be off the books and that could allow for the new manager to land one or two new additions in the centre of defence.

Improvements are certainly required in the backline. Leeds conceded far too many goals during the 2022/23 season – there were some criminal errors towards the back end of the campaign.

Whoever the new boss, needs to focus on making the Whites more watertight.

At present, all eyes are on the EFL and the 49ers. The sooner Leeds’ new owners can get their takeover ratified, the sooner the summer business can commence.

In other Leeds United news, the club are set to react to an impending Elland Road exodus with “ambitious” incoming transfer plans.
