Leeds United early team news v Watford: Daniel Farke drops surgery bombshell

Daniel Farke has dropped a surgery update at Leeds United as they prepare to travel to Vicarage Road on Tuesday night to face a Watford side with just one win in their last 10.

Having crashed out of the FA Cup last time out, Leeds can now fully focus on achieving promotion from the Championship with no distractions to get in the way.

The Whites start that quest with an away encounter against Watford, off the back of their impressive 2-2 draw away to Sunderland which hampered the Black Cats promotion hopes.

Leeds will be hoping the Hornets are unable to do the same, with Farke revealing the latest team news ahead of the clash, providing an update on several first-team players.

Farke has revealed that Max Wober will require surgery on a knee injury, keeping him out of action until after the March international break.

Speaking to the press ahead of the clash, Farke said: “Wober has this ongoing knee problem, another setback. He will need another surgery and we will do this as quick as possible. He will definitely be out until the next international break.”

The German provided some more positive news, revealing that Dan James and Joe Rodon have both been back in training, with the duo likely to be in contention to start against the Hornets.

Leeds must win v Watford

Aside from the fact that Watford have won just one in their last 10, Leeds need to be securing all three points in this encounter to continue their promotion push.

Heading into a trio of potential promotions deciding fixtures, the Whites need to pick up some momentum and confidence off the back of a disappointing showing against Millwall in the FA Cup.

A failure to win will increase the pressure on three points against Sunderland, which will do nothing but play into the hands of the Elland Road visitors on Monday night.

Momentum will be key at this stage of the season, and against a side lacking in form as much as Watford, Leeds have a huge chance to regain some of that as they enter the most crucial period of the season.

While on paper this encounter may not seem like much, it is certainly a big game that could have a telling impact in the coming weeks.
