Leeds United early team news v Norwich: Farke shares Manor Solomon blow
Daniel Farke has confirmed that Manor Solomon is a doubt for Leeds United ahead of their clash with Norwich City, while a “late call” is to be made on Brenden Aaronson.
Leeds host Norwich City on Wednesday evening (21 January) with hopes of extending their advantage at the top of the Championship after an impressive victory against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Whites had to do that without Pascal Struijk, although the return of Dutchman Joel Piroe provided a boost at the other end of the pitch.
Ahead of the clash with the Canaries, Farke confirmed in his press conference that Struijk will remain absent for the game at Elland Road, with Solomon also a “doubt” as he has a 50/50 chance of featuring after sustaining a hamstring niggle.
Brenden Aaronson took a knock in the recent win, with Farke telling the press they will make a “late call” on the USMNT international.
As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post [20 January], Farke said: “Brenden looks okay – he got a hit to his ankle, late call with him.
“There’s nothing major to confirm but definitely a late decision. A bit carefully optimistic.
“Manor Solomon is a doubt, with hamstring problems today, He felt it at the end of the game, so we have to assess him a bit more. Doubtful if he’s available – 50-50 at the moment.”
Patrick Bamford remains sidelined alongside Struijk.
Leeds United need to repeat Sheffield Wednesday success v Norwich
Leeds’ win against Wednesday showed plenty of promising signs, with the performance across the 90 minutes certainly deserving of all three points.
However, Norwich will provide a different kind of test and it is one that the Whites simply need to be at it from the start in order to achieve a result.
Daniel Farke’s side could increase the gap at the summit of the Championship to four points with a win, although that will be dependant on whether or not Swansea City can provide an upset at home to Sheffield United, who themselves beat Norwich at the weekend.

The race for promotion is getting tighter and tighter, with the top four all having their own aspirations of returning to the Premier League.
With Leeds leading the way, the key to maintaining that will be consistency. If performances like the one against Sheffield Wednesday can be replicated, they’ll be in a very good spot.
