Leeds United duo set for Thorp Arch talks this week as Elland Road exit talks ramp up

Leeds United are set to hold talks with Max Wober and Rasmus Kristensen this week about their future at Elland Road, according to Yorkshire Evening Post.

Writing on their website (13 July), the news outlet report that the two defenders are due back at Thorp Arch this week following their respective loan spells with Gladbach and Roma, and exploits at Euro 2024 this summer.

Gladbach currently aren’t willing to pay the Whites’ asking price to make Wober’s loan permanent [Florian Plettenberg, 6 July] while Roma aren’t interested in signing Kristensen permanently, and talks will be held once they return to discuss if they fit into Daniel Farke’s plans or not.

Leeds United to bring Max Wober and Rasmus Kristensen back?

Last summer the club had very little leverage when it came to their squad because of loan clauses in players’ contracts that allowed them to leave after relegation.

But this summer they aren’t active again, apart from Jack Harrison who has returned to Everton, and it means Farke has more control over what the squad will look like come the opening day of the Championship season.

Brenden Aaronson is already set to return and with Archie Gray moving on to Spurs it opens up a spot in midfield and defence for loanees to potentially come into the side.

Dejan Ljubicic could potentially join Austrian international team-mate Maximilian Wober at Leeds United

A right-back is certainly needed which could really help Kristensen’s cause, although it remains to be seen if he wants to return, while Wober could easily slot into the defence with Charlie Cresswell and Liam Cooper leaving.

It’s a good position to be in for the Whites, who know that if a big offer comes in that tempts them to sell they can reinvest the cash and if not they have two excellent international players ready to step in and help their promotion charge.

In other Leeds news, the club have agreed a £6.8m fee for another midfielder to leave.
