Leeds United drop ‘Howitzer’ news on Kalvin Phillips after Thorp Arch murmurs – Beren Cross
Beren Cross has reacted as Leeds United shared the “Howitzer” news of Kalvin Phillips returning to training this week.
The Leeds Live journalist shared that there have been some positive “murmurs” coming from Thorp Arch regarding the Yorkshire Pirlo.
Phillips was pictured on the grass alongside Cooper this week, but it didn’t look like full first-team training in West Yorkshire.

Writing in his latest column for Leeds Live, Cross reacted to the major news this week after hearing murmurs from Thorp Arch.
“Marcelo Bielsa’s only publicised return dates for Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips were slated for March and that was not considered a conservative estimate, that was the best-case scenario,” he wrote.
“There have been murmurs of good progress from Phillips, but the shock and pleasant surprise of seeing both on the grass at Thorp Arch must have only amplified the elation and relief fans felt.
“The quiet two-and-a-half-week break between games only served to clear the firing range for the howitzer of a hit which dropped across social media on Wednesday.”

The news we all wanted.
We are quite sure that there will have been a huge cheer around Leeds when the image of Phillips was dropped on social media.
After the disappointing January of no major signings, this was the boost everyone needed during this winter break which appears to be going on forever.
With both Phillips and Cooper back on the grass, it will surely just be a case of them getting their fitness back before returning to the action.
It usually takes one under-23s game to help with that, so the trip to Aston Villa is likely to be too close, but could they return at Everton the following Saturday?
It’s a big possibility, and a huge boost given they were given an initial return date of March – let’s hope for the major news.
