Leeds United: Don Goodman shares Elland Road verdict as Ipswich lose v Norwich
Don Goodman has shared his verdict on how Ipswich Town’s 1-0 defeat away at Norwich City affects Leeds United and Leicester City’s chances of automatic promotion.
A first-half strike from Marcelino Nunez condemned Kieran KcKenna’s men to a damaging loss in their efforts to secure a top-two finish in the Championship.
However, Goodman insists that there will be plenty of twists and turns to come in the three-horse race.
Speaking live on Sky Sports [6 April, 2:12pm], he said: “Trust me, Leeds United and Leicester City have potential banana skins of their own.”
Leeds United face tricky tests of their own
Leeds will take heart from the fact that the league leaders, Ipswich, slipped up – but Goodman’s assertion that the race is far from settled has plenty of substance.
The Whites face Coventry City – who began the matchday just one place behind Norwich in seventh – next and also have a tricky trip to Middlesbrough to navigate before the end of the month.
Furthermore, their final game of the season is at home against Southampton – who currently sit fourth in the standings and will be keen to go into the playoffs with momentum.

Slip-ups against sides lower down the table are certainly possible as well, with Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers visiting Elland Road and a trip to London to face QPR at Loftus Road all presenting threats of their own.
Daniel Farke’s side will hope that when the dust settles, they are in an automatic promotion place and do not have to negotiate the lottery of the playoffs.
In other Leeds United news, a Premier League side have joined the Whites in the race for a midfield transfer target.
