Leeds United: Don Goodman blown away by ‘sensational’ Crysencio Summerville moment v Watford
Don Goodman was left awestruck after Crysencio Summerville netted a first-half stunner during Leeds United v Watford at Vicarage Road on Friday (29 March).
The Whites winger cancelled out Vakoun Issouf Bayo’s 31st-minute opener in spectacular fashion by cutting onto his right foot from the left wing and curling a beautiful effort past Daniel Bachmann.
Though the Hornets would retake the lead through Emmanuel Dennis, nothing could take away from the strike as Summerville netted his 16th Championship goal of the season.
Speaking live via Sky Sports Main Event on Friday (26 March, 8:39pm), Goodman said: “What a goal. What a player, let’s have it right. Special talent. Just makes things happen out of absolutely nowhere.
“He’s got no right, absolutely no right to do that. It’s simply sensational. That is a peach of a strike, a beauty and out of absolutely nowhere Leeds are back in it.”
Unfortunately for Leeds, they were held to a 2-2 draw with Mateo Joseph rescuing a late point at Vicarage Road.
Crysencio Summerville shines despite Leeds United slip-up v Watford
Summerville will have put himself in with a good shout of winning Goal of the Season. However, that would not have mattered if Watford claimed all three points at Vicarage Road.
Considering how tight the Championship title race currently is, and after Leicester City lost unexpectedly to Bristol City on Friday, Daniel Farke will be disappointed that his side could not take full advantage.
A draw for Leeds and the Foxes’s defeat left Ipswich Town on top of the pile after the Good Friday fixtures, leapfrogging both sides, going two points ahead at the top of the table.
Of course, there are still seven matches of the campaign remaining, which means there is plenty of time for more twists and turns, but a win against the Hornets could have simplified matters.
It is certainly not a Leeds performance that fans have come to expect, looking very disjointed in defence against the lightning-quick Watford attack, with Bayo and Dennis punishing the open spaces.
