Leeds United did not bid £13million for Lewis O’Brien

Leeds United insist that they didn’t offer Huddersfield Town £13mllion for Lewis O’Brien, despite Phil Hodgkinson claiming they did.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that the Whites have told them that they made a bid of £4million for the central midfielder and nothing more.

However, Huddersfield’s chairman, Hodgkinson insists that the Whites made a much higher offer, and the only reason the deal didn’t go through was because of the structure of the deal [Yorkshire Live].

Odd situation.

This is a very strange scenario, and you have to ask why either Leeds or Huddersfield would lie about O’Brien?

If the Whites did offer £13million, then what are they trying to achieve by claiming that they only offered £4million?

However, if the Whites only offered £4million, why is Hodgkinson saying that the Terriers rejected a higher offer?

It makes no sense, and the only thing that matters is that Leeds didn’t sign O’Brien in the end.

The 22-year-old looked to be an ideal player for the Whites’ midfield, but they decided that he wasn’t worth what the Terriers wanted, and that is the end of it as far we are concerned.

We would also be surprised if Leeds came back in for him in January or next summer because this whole saga might have irritated the Whites.

It all depends on if another midfield target becomes available during that time, with Orta and the Whites ready to take advantage at any stage.

In other Leeds United news, the club asked about a Premier League talent’s availability.
