Leeds United ‘desperately’ need West Ham United win v AZ Alkmaar today – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Leeds United “desperately” need West Ham United to beat AZ Alkmaar and progress to the Conference League final according to Paul Robinson.

The Hammers host Sam Allardyce’s side on Sunday afternoon after seeing their Premier League safety secured last weekend.

West Ham made nine changes for their Premier League clash against Brentford and Robinson would like something similar to occur against Leeds.

“You look at the side he put out against Brentford, he made nine changes,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“The best thing that Leeds can hope for is that Leeds beat AZ Alkmaar or get a draw and get through to the final.

“West Ham’s Premier League safety is mathematically secured. Leeds desperately need West Ham to progress to the final this Thursday. If they get a result, they’ll have one eye on the final and hopefully, he changes the team up a little bit and plays a weaker team.

“This is a must-win game. They need a minimum of three points to stay up. Four probably does it. Manchester City was never going to be a season-defining game for them. They got a point against Newcastle in a game they couldn’t lose.

“This isn’t a game they can’t lose, it’s a game they must win if they want to stay in the league. I think they would’ve taken a lot of positives from recent performances.

“I think he will be happy with where the team are right now and the West Ham game is going to be key to Leeds’ survival.”

“A win against West Ham will be massive for them.”

In other Leeds United news, a £20million-plus move and an Elland Road exit for one first-team player has been scoffed at by a transfer journalist.
