Leeds United ‘Definitely’ in promotion race after ‘Perfect’ Daniel Farke manager appointment
Leeds United made the “perfect” appointment when hiring Daniel Farke in the summer and are “definitely” in the race for promotion, says Gustavo Poyet.
The Whites are on a six-game unbeaten run with four consecutive clean sheets to push themselves up to the playoff places after a slow start to the campaign initially.
But speaking to Football League World (28 September), current Greece national team manager Poyet believes it was “common sense” to hire the German at Elland Road because of his history in the Championship with Norwich.

“I think the decision by Leeds to bring in Daniel Farke was common sense,” Poyet explained, speaking to Football League World.
“I always like to look at the reason behind new managerial appointments and when you look at Farke you see that he has won the Championship twice, so he is perfect.
“It has taken a bit of time for him to change the mentality of the players but slowly I am beginning to see a Leeds side that will definitely challenge for automatic promotion.
“The Championship is very difficult but I think they have every chance.
“The manager has proven himself in the division and the players are good enough.”
Perfect
The Leeds manager’s job was one that got banded about constantly over the summer and it seemed that nobody knew who was going to come in.
Then when Farke’s name got mentioned, the club seemed to have a sensible head screwed on and most fans were happy about him coming in because he had previously won this division twice and also had plenty of experience in the top flight.

He’s come into the club now and immediately set the standards high, with no exceptions regardless of how good the players are or what the situation was within the squad.
Everyone has bought into what he wants to do and now we’re seeing the progress and results on the pitch after an initial slow start that was clouded in uncertainty because of the transfer window.
Farke’s the man and under him we’re going places, so nobody is complaining and we’re all marching on together.
