Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen messy situation at Roma revealed

Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen is stuck in a messy situation on loan at Roma with Jose Mourinho intervening behind the scenes, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported in its print edition on Tuesday (12 September, Page 24), that Mourinho was forced to step in and prevent Zeki Celik from leaving.

With Kristensen being left out of the Europa League squad, Mourinho would’ve been short on options at right-back and had to intervene and stop the Turkish defender from joining Galatasaray.

Not Leeds’ problem

The new manager and new owners were dealt an unfair hand with provisions that existed in players’ contracts.

This allowed them to leave the club in the event of relegation on loan, provided the new club paid their entire salary.

Kristensen was one of the first players to take advantage of this and decided to jump as soon as he possibly could.

This saw him lose a lot of respect in the Leeds fanbase and Daniel Farke, too, will not have been overly pleased by this behaviour.

He’s clearly not impressing Mourinho or the Roma fans there and the Elland Road faithful will be delighted he’s not their problem anymore.

Djed Spence is arguably an upgrade on Kristensen and he’s exactly what the Whites need to get out of the Championship.

In other Leeds United news, a Whites player now faces over 12 weeks out of action due to injury if the worst-case scenario takes place.
