Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen involved in nasty incident at World Cup
Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen was involved in a nasty incident for Denmark in their opening FIFA World Cup game against Tunisia on 22 November 2022.
Kristensen went into the book for a nasty challenge against Aïssa Laïdouni, taking the midfielder’s boot off in the process of the tackle.
Sky Sports described the incident as a “nasty tackle” on their app covering the game and admitted that Laïdouni was likely regretting an earlier tackle he made on Christian Eriksen.
“Kristensen goes into the book for a nasty tackle on our man Laidouni. The midfielder’s boot comes off again in the challenge,” as quoted on the Sky Sports app.
“One wonders if he’s regretting smashing into Eriksen inside two minutes.”
The Danish menace Kristensen was obviously getting one back for his old mate Eriksen who was on the recieving end of a similar tackle from Laidouni early on.
Kristensen started as right wing-back for Denmark in the game, having already earned 10 caps previously for his country.
The Leeds United defender joined a host of other Premier League names playing for Denmark in their World Cup opener.
Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen, Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen and Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg all made the cut to start in Denmark’s opening fixture.
Denmark will face Australia and current World Champions France in their other group games in a tricky group to navigate for the Leeds defender.
Kristensen has featured heavily for Leeds since his arrival this past summer from Red Bull Salzburg, making 12 Premier League appearances for Jesse Marsch.
He’s currently keeping Luke Ayling out of the side, despite the fan favourite returning from injury, so he is definitely doing something right at the moment.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has revealed the whispers he’s heard at Elland Road about when the 49ers will complete their takeover.
