Leeds United defender Junior Firpo could be on way out of Elland Road amid recent transfer development

Junior Firpo could be on his way out of Leeds United either in January or in the summer transfer as they’re looking to sign Valencia’s Jesus Vazquez.

The Whites were understood to be making a move for a left-back in the summer but they did not end up getting anyone over the line.

Now, it seems like they’re ramping up their pursuit of the 19-year-old and that could spell the end of the road for Firpo at Elland Road.

There was plenty of excitement after he signed from Barcelona and many at the club saw it as a coup after his performances at Real Betis.

However, it became evident pretty quickly why the Catalan outfit wanted to get rid of him as he offers little to no defensive contribution.

He does look decent in the final third, but Leeds cannot have such an imbalanced player starting week in and week out for them.

Instead, their chances of signing Vazquez seem to be higher now as he’s got a unilateral clause in his contract that allows him to leave if he’s not given the pre-determined minutes. [El Desmarque Valencia]

The 19-year-old has been billed “Fantastic” [Foottheball ScoutingReport] for his contributions on the defensive as well as the offensive side of things.

Currently, he is not the first choice at Valencia and that could see Leeds capitalising in January, although he’s still got to have final talks with the Spanish club.

We’re hoping the Whites get this over the line as he’ll be an exceptional option for the future.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
