Leeds United defender Diego Llorente suffers tear in hamstring, was in tears after Roma v Atalanta

Leeds United defender Diego Llorente has reportedly suffered a tear in his femoral bicep in his hamstring which is likely to keep him out of the next Roma game.

According to Football Italia [27 April], the Spain international was in tears after he couldn’t finish the game on Monday, 24 April which saw his side lose 3-1.

Llorente has been a regular since his loan move to the Italian capital and Jose Mourinho has utilised him well at the heart of his defence.

Tough news

The report hasn’t stated just how long he’ll be ruled out but this certainly is a tough one to swallow for the Spanish defender.

He was doing so well and proving a point that he wasn’t utilised well at Leeds and perhaps playing his back into the first team under a new manager or getting a permanent transfer elsewhere.

Given the club’s defensive issues, if they do not have the budget to go for another centre-back in the summer, the new manager can decide to give Llorente another shot if he does decide to stay.

However, this recent setback will halt the momentum he’s gained since his move to Roma and will be a massive loss for Mourinho.

It remains to be seen where he ends up, but as of now, we wish him the best of luck and hopefully, he’s back before the end of the season.

At Elland Road, it’s another tough situation as the Whites have been handed another setback with Nottingham Forest recently picking up three points against Everton.
