Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell likely to leave on loan
Charlie Cresswell is reportedly likely to leave Leeds United on a loan this summer to gain first-team experience elsewhere.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the landscape of loans is expected to change this summer, with Jesse Marsch more open to letting players leave than Marcelo Bielsa.
The Argentine preferred that the players’ development took place in house rather than at another club.
Via his personal Twitter account, Joe Donnohue wrote, “Charlie Cresswell planning talks with Marsch & Orta in the coming weeks over his future. 6 senior apps last season but needs to kick on. Loan likely. Whoever lands him for 2022/23 gets themselves a vocal, leads-by-example, rough-and-tumble centre-half.”
Makes sense
Cresswell would not have been a first-team player if there weren’t so many injuries at Leeds this past season.
The fact that he was thrown into the FA Cup squad was because Bielsa did not have his rotation players available.
However, he then realised that Cresswell could be ready for some senior minutes in the Premier League as well and did exactly that.
At best, the 20-year-old currently is a bench player if he stays at Leeds, but he could become a regular player if he moves to a Championship club.
Cody Drameh was sent out on loan and had an immaculate second half of the season for Cardiff City.
He was even nominated for their Player of the Year award – which is saying something as performances for the entire season have been taken into account.
In Leeds United news, an under-the-radar court case involving the transfer of a Leeds player has reached its conclusion with the final payout revealed.
