Leeds United: David Prutton shares ‘phenomenal’ Archie Gray verdict in new Elland Road admission
Leeds United gem Archie Gray has blown David Prutton away with his “phenomenal” performances for the Whites and on international duty this season.
The 18-year-old has been a regular feature in Daniel Farke’s first team this season, starting 33 of the Whites’ 38 Championship matches this term both in centre-midfield and out of position at right-back.
Gray made his debut for England’s under-21s side during the March international break and Sky Sports presenter Prutton believes the teenager’s international exploits reflect the incredible depth of quality at Elland Road.
Writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post (29 March) he said: “Speaking of the future, we have seen both Archie Gray and Mateo Joseph excel in their first outings at under-21s level for England and Spain respectively in this last break.
“I think if you have got young kids that are excelling at international level then it’s a great reflection on the quality that they have got. You have got to take Archie first because what he has done this season has been nothing short of phenomenal.
“Establishing himself and showing us all what he’s capable of in a position which is not his real position at right back. Plus just the way that the kid has gone about it, the way that the family has handled the situation, the pressure, the exposure.”
Will Leeds United be able to keep Archie Gray during the summer transfer window?
It has been an incredible season for Leeds United so far in the Championship and they have a great opportunity to not only make an immediate return to the Premier League but win promotion as champions.
While several players have impressed in Farke’s side this season, with Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter securing the plaudits going forward and Joe Rodon impressing in defence, Gray has been the real star of the show.

In his first full season of senior football, the 18-year-old has managed to be consistently impressive in a range of positions in a team that are challenging at the right end of the table. The only issue for Leeds will be keeping him this summer.
Several Premier League and European giants have already been linked with the England youth international ahead of the transfer window and that interest will only grow as Gray continues his “phenomenal” form.
