Leeds United: David Prutton reacts to Patrick Bamford ‘bombshell’ on Sky Sports
Sky Sports presenter David Prutton was left in hysterics as Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford dropped a “bombshell” during their post-match interview on Monday (22 April).
Bamford scored and played 75 minutes during the Whites’ 4-3 win away to Middlesbrough, but also came in for some criticism, following a “nasty” challenge on Finn Azaz.
The Leeds striker spoke directly to those in the Sky Sports studio in the aftermath of the victory, and gave a surprising answer to one of the questions posed by Prutton.
At the conclusion of the interview, Prutton was stunned at Bamford’s answer to his final question, which was: “Are you watching the game tomorrow night – Leicester against Southampton?”
Bamford rather sheepishly replied with: “Do you know what, I’ll probably watch the Arsenal game.”
Prutton then sarcastically joked: “And on that bombshell Patrick Bamford, thank you for the ringing endorsement of the EFL my friend!”
Bamford was quick to point out it was nothing personal towards the quality of Sky Sports’ coverage, and more down to the calibre of players that will be on show at the Emirates, as the two enjoyed another mutual laugh before ending the interview.
Leicester versus Southampton set to be crucial in the Championship promotion picture
Despite Bamford’s comments, Leeds fans across the land are likely to tune in to the fixture at the King Power on Tuesday night (23 April).
Daniel Farke’s men are the only side in the promotion race not to have a game in hand, but any result in Tuesday’s action could be viewed positively.
A win for Leicester would all but end Southampton’s promotion hopes, as they would remain six points behind Leeds with a much inferior goal difference, knocking one of their rivals out of the race.
However, three points for the Saints will pull them closer to Leeds, but could open the door further for the Whites to aim for the Championship title at Leicester’s expense.
A draw between the two will also be beneficial to Leeds, as it will see two direct rivals dropping points heading into the penultimate weekend of the season, where Farke’s side travel to Queen’s Park Rangers on Friday (26 April).
