Leeds United: David Prutton predicts result of showdown v Middlesbrough for Sky Sports

Leeds United will end a three-match winless run in the Championship when they face Middlesbrough on Monday 22 April, according to David Prutton.

The Sky Sports pundit believes Daniel Farke’s side will bounce back from their shock defeat to Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road last time out, predicting that the Whites will claim all three points at the Riverside, winning 2-1.

Middlesbrough are unbeaten in each of their last nine matches in the Championship, but Prutton expects Leeds’ success at the EFL awards to have boosted the Whites confidence as they eye automatic promotion.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Championship Predictions (18 April,13:45) he said: “They need one [a response] because of what’s going on around them. They’ve looked in a bit of a funk in their last few games and not at their rhythmic best.

“Maybe having some real confidence that will come from a whole batch of EFL awards that got chucked their way, maybe that will spur them back on as my god, they’ve got to get back to it. That’s not going to be straightforward against a Boro side that has at times looked effective.

“I’m going to go Leeds to win 2-1.”

Will Leeds United beat Leicester City and Ipswich Town to promotion to the Premier League?

Leeds United have wobbled at the wrong time in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League this season, but luckily for Farke so have both Ipswich Town and Leicester City in the last few weeks.

The Whites are still only two points off of the Tractor Boys at the top of the table and with just three games left to play, Leeds are still capable of booking their place in the top two if they can get back to winning ways.

But they simply have to win against Middlesbrough on Monday, especially as both the Foxes and Ipswich will have already played earlier in the weekend. Farke and his team could well have a chance to move into the top two.

Hopefully, Prutton’s prediction will be correct and the Whites will claim all three points at the Riverside Stadium in front of the Sky Sports cameras. It may be close at the top, but that means there is everything still to play for.
