Leeds United: David Prutton predicts result of ‘phenomenal’ clash v Watford for Sky Sports

Leeds United will maintain their unbeaten run in the Championship in 2024 when they face Watford at Vicarage Road on Friday 29 March, according to David Prutton.

The Sky Sports presenter expects Daniel Farke’s side to pick up where they left off ahead of the March international break and claim all three points against Tom Cleverly’s Hornest, predicting that the Whites will win 2-1.

Watford ended a four-match winless run in the league with a 1-0 win over Birmingham last time out, but Prutton believes Leeds’ “phenomenal” quality in attack will be the difference between the two sides on Friday.

Speaking on Sky Sports Championship Predictions (26 March) he said: “Leeds have, apart from the Huddersfield game, the only game they’ve dropped points in, in 2024, have been phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal.

“I’m not saying for one second that this is a mismatch of a game because of who’s on the pitch, Watford do have some very, very good players but Leeds have been absolutely phenomenal and it’s very hard to see beyond an away win.”

Will Leeds United beat Leicester City and Ipswich Town to the Championship title?

Leeds United will be heading into every game between now and the end of the season full of confidence given their recent performances under Farke and that is unlikely to be any different against Watford on Friday.

The Whites simply have to keep winning to give themselves the best chance of not only promotion to the Premier League but potentially the title. They’ve taken advantage of Leicester’s FA Cup commitments to move ahead of the Foxes, but that could have all changed by kick-off on Good Friday.

Hopefully, Farke’s side will still be top of the table when the final whistle is blown, but they have to make sure that they claim all three points as they cannot afford to just rely on teams around them dropping points.

If they’re anywhere near their best, they’ll return from Vicarage Road with all three points. They’ve shown they can beat anyone this season and even with a couple of absentees, they will be definite favourites.
