Leeds United: Danny Murphy predicts Championship title amid ‘fabulous’ admission
Leeds United are a “fabulous” club, and one that deserves to be promoted to the Premier League this season as the Championship title race heats up.
That is according to Danny Murphy, who has lauded the Whites amid a title tussle at Elland Road as they battle against Leicester City, Ipswich Town and a resurgent Southampton for automatic promotion.
The four sides are separated by just five points, with Leeds suffering a blow after a 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers (13 April), while the Foxes also slipped up against Plymouth Argyle.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Wednesday (17 April, 11:42am), Murphy said: “If I had to choose one club to go up, it’d be Leeds. They’re a fabulous club.”
Will Leeds United claim automatic promotion to the Premier League?
Daniel Farke’s previous experiences in similar positions will be worth its weight in gold as Leeds target automatic promotion over Leicester and Ipswich.
The German has led Norwich City to the title on two occasions in the second tier of English football, which should pay dividends for the Whites this season, with just three matches remaining.
Though the Tractor Boys currently occupy the Championship top spot, matches against playoff-hopefuls Hull City and Coventry City could prove difficult, with Huddersfield Town fighting for survival at the opposite end of the table.
Leeds are in a similar position, with upcoming matches against Middlesbrough, QPR and Southampton, and so the automatic promotion spots are set to come right down to the wire.

The Whites’ recent form will come as a worry at Elland Road. Three consecutive games without a victory, including 2-1 and 1-0 losses to Coventry and Blackburn, has left the top spot in the league wide open.
The likes of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon must all be at their very best if Leeds are to claim promotion at the last second.
